The cards should be arranged in ascending order. This means that the cards should be arranged beginning with the ace and ending with the king.

All the cards in the game have been ranked from the highest to the lowest. K is known as the king card and it has been ranked as the highest card. The ‘A’ card has been ranked as the lowest card.

The order of the cards is K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and A. Gamers are supposed to arrange the cards in this order to win a round of solitaire.

Sharpening Solitaire Skills

For one to become a real pro, one has to understand the main deal in this game. The game has different types of piles. Gamers should give each pile a different style of approach. Solitaire has 4 different types of piles. The first type of pile is the Tableau.

The table in this type of play is made up of seven piles. Cards are placed from the left to the right of the table until the seventh pile has a card facing up, which is on top of six cards that are facing down.

The second type of pile is the Foundation. The foundation consists of four piles. It requires one to build a sequence or a complete suit on the four piles. The four card aces are used as the base of the Foundation in most of the solitaire games. The piles of the foundation are spades, clubs, hearts, and diamonds.

The third type of pile is the Stockpile or the Hand pile. This pile is made up of the cards that were not placed in the tableau at the start of the game. Cards in this pile are added as the game goes on in accordance with the rules of the game.

The last type of pile is the Talon or the Waste pile. This pile is made up of cards that do not have a place in the Stockpile, the Tableau or on the Foundations pile. These cards are placed face-up on the Talon pile.

Now that you have learned the basics of how to play the game, here are a few steps to take while playing the game. Make sure to try out some of the steps when playing the game.

  • You should make sure that you place cards slightly lower than those below them. This is to enable you to clearly see the cards so as to have a great plan of winning the game. The cards in the pile should move in descending order. Place the cards until you do not have the ability to make another move.
  • Card players are advised to make the top cards obvious. This makes it easy for one to read the game. One should make sure the card on top of each of the seven piles is facing up. Always turn a card over once you move it.
  • It is also important to note that you should use aces as the foundations when building a pile. You should have all of your aces above other cards. This will make it easy to arrange the cards in ascending order.
  • Another important tool in the game is the reserve deck. You are advised to make use of the reserve deck once you have no more moves to perform. Use the reserve deck with keenness as you might end up having a lot of cards on the table, which might not be advantageous to you.
  • One also has the option of placing the waste pile cards into use once you run out of cards in the reserve deck.
  • A hidden card might come in handy in this game. One has the option of moving the card around until one can find a slot to place the card in. The card can be moved freely through the 7 piles as long the rules of the game are adhered to.
  • Players of the game are allowed to use all of the cards in a pile. In this case, one is only allowed to fill the space using a king. One can only win the game after placing the cards in the right order.

Solitaire is an especially suitable game for people who are just learning to play cards.
